Customer Service Representative
Hartselle Utilities provides electric power services to residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout the City of Hartselle. HU is seeking candidates to fill a customer service representative position in our Customer Service Department. This position provides customer service to individuals at the drive-through window and lobby service counter; responds to customer inquiries, takes payments, and provides problem resolution. This position resolves mostly routine account problems and communicates solutions or requested information to customers. This position offers a starting pay range between $18.00 and $20.00 per hour, which is commensurate on experience. In addition to pay, HU provides an extensive benefits package.
Responsibilities:
- Supports Hartselle Utilities’ customer base by answering questions, concerns, account inquiries as well as handling customer complaints
- Processes payments for customers
- Researches and resolves customer problems
- Assists with clerical tasks that support the daily operations of the department
Qualifications:
- High School Degree or Equivalent required
- Previous work experience in customer service, as a cashier, or similar job, in a professional office environment
- Previous work experience handling payments in the form of cash, check, or money orders.
- Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, and e-mail
